Our office is recommending H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine for all our patients over 6 months of age. Children under
age 10 need two doses of H1N1 (either the mist form or the injection form) one month apart. Children age nine and
under receiving seasonal flu vaccine for the first time also need two doses a month apart. Patients can get an injection of each kind of flu at
the same time. They can also choose to have one mist and one injection at the same time. But they can not have two
mists at the same time. If they choose only the mist form, the vaccines have to be given a month apart.
The H1N1 vaccine was developed the same way as the seasonal flu vaccine. We expect it to be as safe as the
seasonal flu vaccine. Testing done this year on H1N1 has not shown any complications. If we have your e-mail in our
records you will receive our latest electronic newsletter with flu updates.
If your child is under six months old, you can help protect your child by getting vaccinated yourself. It is safe
for nursing mothers to get vaccinated.
It is essential for pregnant women to be vaccinated because of the high rate of complications.
